Snow and ice can cause tree limbs to fall into power lines
February 11, 2010 - 4 p.m.
Heavy snow and ice can cause tree limbs to crack and fall downing power lines and causing power outages. Singing River Electric crews are prepared and ready.
"We maintain an aggressive right-of-way re-clearing program to keep the area around and above teh power lines free of debris and limbs," said general manager Lee Hedegaard. "Most times we are concerned with high winds but heavy snow and ice can cause the same problems."
"We are prepared," said Hedegaard. "We ask that our members take time to prepare their home and family as well."
