Security Light

Few things are more visibly reassuring than brightly lit walkways, streets and parking lots.

Outdoor lighting not only discourages crime, but prevents accidents and helps extend daylight hours.

Singing River Electric can help you develop a customized outdoor lighting solution for your home or business. Choose from a variety of attractive styles that fit your needs. For pennies a day dusk-to-dawn outdoor lights automatically come on at dusk and go off at dawn to ensure your family and member's peace of mind.

Why do I need a security light?

Security lights automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn. A few cents a day covers installation, maintenance and operating costs while increasing your family's security and extending the hours of light for work or play.

Surge Protection

No one can prevent Mother Nature's handiwork. Lightning can strike anywhere and at any time, sending powerful surges through electrical and communication lines in your home.

You can, however, achieve a higher level of protection by using surge protection at the meter base and point-of-use.

Meter-Based Surge Suppressor

Meter-based surge protection is a high-energy service entrance arresterthatdiverts to ground the majority of the energy from a surge before it enters inside wiring. It protects electrical wiring at both the service entrance location and rotary motor loads such as washers, pumps, refrigerators and freezers.

Point-Of-Use Surge Suppressor

Point-of-use surge suppressors can safely and reliably limit over-voltage conditions to sensitive electrical equipment like stereos, computers, answering machines and televisions.

Point-of-use surge suppressors are designed to be used between your sensitive electrical equipment and the wall outlet.

When purchasing point-of-use suppressors, look for those that are UL-listed as TVSS and have been tested for safety, fire hazard, shock hazard and performance. Also, check the suppressor clamping voltage to determine how much voltage a suppressor will "let through" to the product it is protecting.

How can I receive surge protection service?

You can purchase the meter based surge unit at any Singing River Electric office or by calling one of our local phone numbers (click on "Contact us" across top of this page for local numbers). The device is installed between Singing River's electric meter and your meter base.

At the time of installation, a technician will make a thorough inspection of the meter base grounding system.

Point-of-use surge suppressors are available for purchase at every Singing River Electric office. These devices are high-quality and each carries a warranty.
