Storm Center Preparations

Singing River Electric has a 5-phase proven plan designed to ensure smooth operations and immediate response. Does your family have a plan?

Family Plan...

"Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy." Bill Proenza, National Hurricane Center

  • Build a Hurricane Supply Kit including...
    • water for 3-7 days
    • medicines
    • food for 3-7 days
    • manual can opener
    • fuel
    • cash
    • first aid kit
    • bedding & clothing
    • flashlight
    • radio
    • batteries
  • Make sure SRE has your current phone number. Matching your phone number with your account speeds service.
  • Charge cell phones and radios prior to storm.
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut.
  • Disconnect or turn off appliances that will turn on automatically when power is restored.
  • Leave porch light on so crews will be able to determine the success of restoration.

Safety First...

  • Treat all downed powerlines as if energized and stay far away.
  • Notify Singing River Electric or call 911 to report downed lines.
  • Do not attempt to repair the electrical system or pull trees off lines.
  • Stay away from areas where there is a lot of debris and downed trees because they could conceal a downed and energized powerline.
  • Do not connect generators to your household wiring. This can kill you or our employees. Directly connect small appliances to the generator.
