Storm Center: After the Storm

Singing River Electric’s restoration plan works to restore power to the greatest number of our members safely and as quickly as possible.

Restoring power

As soon as SRE detects an outage or is notified of an outage our trained dispatchers assign the right resources, crew members and materials to speed restoration efforts. During a large outage, SRE follows an overall restoration plan to restore the greatest number of members as quickly as possible. During a hurricane or strong storm, our restoration plan is as follows:

  1. SRE repairs substation damage and power lines leading from substations which are essential to providing electric service.
  2. Simultaneously, we repair damged power lines serving critical facilities such as hospitals.
  3. At the same time, we have crews working to repairing downed power lines and rebuilding power poles to restore electric service to the greatest number of members in the shortest amount of time - including grocery stores, gas stations and other needed community services.
  4. From here, we repair the infrastructure serving our communities and neighborhoods, working to respond to the hardest hit areas until all power is restored.
