Youth Leadership Program

Singing River Electric participates in a Youth Leadership Program each year with electric cooperatives across the state and nation.

Each high school serving Singing River Electric's service territory nominates one high school junior for the program in October. Candidates must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be involved in exra-curricular activities, have proven leadership skills and receive electricity from Singing River Electric. All nominees participate in a one-day Cooperative University and interview process in November, and up to three students are selected to attend the Youth Leadership Workshop in Jackson in March with other Mississippi cooperative representatives to learn about state government and participate in leadership building exercises. In June, the students travel to Washington D.C. and spend a week touring monuments, visiting the Capitol and their legislators and seeing historical sites.

Interested students should contact their junior guidance counselor for more information.
