Capital Credits
How to apply for capital credits?
- If capital credits are due to you from the years 1965-1970 and your account is still active, there is no need for any action. Your capital credits will be applied to your billing statement automatically.
- If you are applying for capital credits for yourself but the account is inactive, fill out the Request for Capital Credit form below.
- If you are applying for capital credits on behalf of a deceased relative, fill out the Request for Capital Credit Form and the Capital Credit Application Affidavit below.
Singing River Electric Power Association's rates are set so the Association has enough revenue to operate, make payments on loans and have some reserve funds. If margins are made beyond these needs, they are assigned to the members in the form of capital credits. The amount of capital credits assigned to a member is based on the amount of electricity used during a particular year. When appropriate cash is available, Singing River Electric's board of directors can approve returning a portion of a member's capital credit in the form of a check or credit.
This year, Singing River Electric's board has approved a return of $1,213,072 to the members, which represents capital credit refunds from 1965-1970. If you were a member during these years you will receive a capital credits refund for that time period. Members with an account that is still active and receiving a billing statement each month will receive a credit on their bill automatically and do not have to fill out paperwork. Previous members who had an account from 1965-1970 but no longer have an active account should download and complete the applicable forms above. Completed documentation must be returned to Singing River Electric's Lucedale office, located at 11187 Old 63 South in Lucedale, by 5 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012.
