Power cost adjustment decreases April 6.

Singing River Electric Power Association has announced a decrease in the power cost adjustment (PCA) beginning April 6, 2007.
“We are pleased to pass this cost savings along to our members,” said Singing River Electric General Manager and CEO Lee Hedegaard.
The reduction in fuel costs is a result of several small things. South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA), our generation and transmission cooperative, continues to look for ways to be more efficient.
“By choosing a diversified mix of owned and contracted generating resources and negotiating improved transportation agreements with coal suppliers, SMEPA has been able to decrease current power cost,” said Hedegaard.
Diversifying fuel sources and generators reduces the full impact of any individual fuel source increase.
“This strategy has been successful in controlling costs for a number of years,” commented Marcus Ware, South Mississippi Electric Power Association assistant general manager.
Power cost adjustment includes the variable costs of energy and is a pass through cost without profit or mark-up to members.
Therefore beginning April 6, the power cost adjustment on Singing River Electric member billing statements will decrease 1.3 mills, or $1.30 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours.
Singing River Electric is the low cost provider of electricity across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our focus is our members, and our goal is to provide responsive and reliable electric service at the lowest reasonable price.
