Singing River Electric grants awarded to CANDY, Moss Point Active Citizens.

LUCEDALE, MS –Singing River Electric Power Association recently awarded two Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grants totaling nearly $5,000 to Citizens Against Needless Death in Youth (CANDY) and Moss Point Active Citizens’ Soap Box Derby Committee.
CANDY’s grant will purchase approximately 65 car seats to replace outdated seats and those lost after Hurricane Katrina.
Funds awarded to Moss Point Active Citizens will be used to upgrade the timer for the Soap Box Derby and purchase a large display to show finishing times and winners.
“The primary focus of both CANDY and the Soap Box Derby is on the children of our communities,” said Singing River Electric General Manager and CEO Lee Hedegaard. “I am pleased to see these grant funds awarded to help develop future generations.”
