LUCEDALE, MS – Singing River Electric Power Association recently awarded two Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grants totaling nearly $5,000 to the Moss Point Fire Department and the Southeast Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Moss Point Fire Department’s grant will be used to purchase a high volume floating fire pump. This pump will supply water in emergencies when normal city water systems are not working.
Funds awarded to the American Red Cross will purchase seven special needs cots to be used for patients at the special needs emergency hurricane shelter housed at the East Central Community Center.
“We are happy to award these two grants,” said Singing River Electric General Manager and CEO Lee Hedegaard. “The Moss Point Fire Department and the American Red Cross are both great assets to our community and these projects will strengthen their efforts in the event of a disaster.”
