Singing River Electric Power Association recently awarded two Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grants totaling nearly $5,000 to Colmer Middle School in Pascagoula and East Central Upper Elementary School in Hurley.
Colmer Middle School will use funds to purchase a site license for the “My Reading Coach” software, designed to assist students who struggle with reading.
Funds awarded to East Central Upper Elementary will purchase hands-on learning materials for the science lab, encouraging the use of art and creativity with subjects such as the human body.
“Singing River Electric is very supportive of our local schools,” said General Manager and CEO Lee Hedegaard. “These grant funds will benefit students by focusing on two important and fundamental subjects such as reading and science.”
